24 Hours for Obama

Here's the video evidence of our trip to DC. Please excuse my first attempt at video editing. The video takes place on our 24 hour day in D.C.

3:45am - Wake up at Craig and Jaime's in the D.C. suburbs in northern Virginia. From Craig's house it's a 10 minute drive to the Vienna train station on the orange line. That's the farthest stop from the city: train time 1 hour.

4:20am - Leave the house for the train.

4:35am - The first scene.. Craig did an amazing job finding a parking space. We took back streets so we didn't have to wait in the traffic jam on the freeway.

6:15am - Walking on the streets of D.C. We picked up an Obama beanie and scarf, plus a cup of coffee. THANK GOD FOR COFFEE.

6:30am - We make it to our spot!

7:30am, 8:30am, 9:30am, 10:30am - Chill.

11:30am - They start seating the dignitaries.

Noon - Obama is sworn in six hours after we arrived on our spot. We are fucking tired.

1:00pm - We start heading for the metro. We first try L'Enfant Plaza it's mobbed. Later we'd find out that the National Guard was holding people out so that the crowd inside wouldn't get big enough to force people onto the tracks. Following the metro line we encounter mobbed stations at Federal Center, Capitol South.

2:15pm - We get on the train at the Eastern Market station. It was about a 2 mile walk, but the station is open and we get right on.

3:30pm - We get our first meal of the day. Soooooooo hungry.

4:30pm - We arrive at Dulles Airport

5:45pm - We leave D.C.

2:00am - (Eastern) - We get to SFO! At last! The last video clip is us riding the long term parking shuttle.

3:30am - (Eastern) - We finally hit the sheets after 24 hours for Obama!

Christmas in Phoenix

So, not to one-up Trotter, but I thought I'd put our tale of Christmas 2008 out there; our magical "first Christmas as husband and wife." It all started on a stormy day in Portland. We weren't there, but our plane was. It ended with a missed connection in Phoenix and a taxi to a hotel bar. Yes Christmas eve in a deserted hotel bar.

We made it to Indy the next day.

Anyone should have expected that Sarah Palin would be chosen to be McCain's running mate. Neocons have a nearly flawless record of picking the most cynical possible person for the job (e.g. Alberto Gonzalez). In Palin they have perfect pick for pilfering some disgruntled Hillary supporters. The irony is that unlike Hillary, Palin is an pro-life, gun toting, pageant runer-uppering, political dilettante. Two years ago she was on a city council.

This is affirmative action Republican style. She's cute, says what they want her to say and she'll go straight to the white house where she'll be summarily written off. McCain seems to think that women will settle if the glass ceiling is just a bit higher.

The Sentinel is reporting that Trent Dilfer is going to retire. Can't say I'll miss him. Why? Here's a quote from the article:

Dilfer completed 55.5 percent of his passes for 20,518 yards in his career. He threw 113 TD passes and 129 interceptions.

That's a 70.2 lifetime QB rating. OUCH!
